The eighth edition of Leggermente kicks off on June 26th and runs until July 19th, featuring 20 events and an additional appendix in August. On the stage of Villa Fabbricotti, in Livorno’s city park, 22 nationally renowned authors will take turns. The presence of women authors will stimulate reflections and memories: from Serena Dandini to Anna Foa, from Concita De Gregorio to Annalisa Cuzzocrea, from Alice Basso to Nicoletta Verna, from Maria Grazia Calandrone to Francesca Fialdini and Valentina Petrini. Leggermente was born in 2019 through the collaboration between the Biblioteca Labronica del Comune di Livorno, Cooperativa Itinera, Feltrinelli Librerie, Chioschino di Filippo Brandolini and with the precious collaboration of Fondazione Livorno, committed to supporting the city’s culture. It now also has the support of: Regione Toscana Consiglio Regionale and Livorno città che Legge, establishing itself as a recognized and anticipated cultural event in the city, a reference point for the city (and beyond), capable of engaging an increasingly broad and participatory community. The green heart of the event is Villa Fabbricotti, a place where nature and culture meet.

Leggermente was presented during a press conference attended by the Councilor for Culture of the City of Livorno Angela Rafanelli, the president of Fondazione Livorno Luciano Barsotti, Cecilia Caleo and Marco Giovannetti from Itinera, and Andrea Berti from Feltrinelli Livorno.

Councilor Angela Rafanelli began by emphasizing the value of reading, elevating the book from a simple dusty object to a tool of resistance against loneliness, describing reading as a rebellious practice essential for self-discovery. Through acknowledging the vital role of Fondazione Livorno and mentioning various artistic collaborations, the Councilor outlined a community network that sees culture as a pillar of social cohesion. “Leggermente – Rafanelli said – promotes a deep connection between the territory and literature, inviting the public to rediscover the book as a necessary compass to navigate the complexity of the present.”

This year as well, new voices and stories will come to life in a calendar full of events, designed to create connections.

On Thursday, July 2nd at 6:30 PM and on Wednesday, July 8th at 7:00 PM, the LIS interpretation and subtitling service will be provided by Sportello ABC Comune Livorno ENS and Comunico.
